Submarine Explorer – A low cost AUV
The demonstrator is a low cost autonomous underwater robot. The computer system controlling the robot is design using advanced hardware/software codesign techniques by using state of the art FPGA SOPC technology implementing time critical parts of the system in hardware and using parallel computational resources by a consequent MPSOC approach. Using just one design environment a distributed embedded real-time system is presented. The system contains 4 FPGA boards connected by CAN and Ethernet links. The system was fully designed and implemented during a one year student project.
